Day 1: Learn about online violence
Online abuse is a form of violence that affects millions of women and girls every day.
Day 1’s action is to learn about digital abuse, what it looks like and how to prevent it. Knowledge is power.
Get Involved via UN Women >>
Day 2: Host a Barbershop Session
Digital technologies can cause harm or offer hope.
Day 2’s action is to host a Barbershop session using Module 3 on Digital Masculinities to explore how men and boys can support safer online spaces today.
Day 3: Call on Tech Companies & Gvt
Billions of women and girls lack legal protection from digital violence.
Day 3’s action is to urge governments and tech companies to strengthen laws, transparency, and survivor support.
Day 4: Use survivor-Centered Language
Virtual violence is real, and language shapes how we understand it.
Day 4’s action is to use survivor-centred, non-blaming language when speaking or posting about online abuse. Words can reduce stigma and support healing.
Day 5: Share Your Story
By speaking openly, men can challenge harmful digital behaviors and show solidarity with survivors.
Day 5’s action is to share your story for the HeForShe Men’s Narrative Series to help promote safer, more respectful spaces.
Day 6: Explore the causes of online harm
Misogynistic online communities normalize violence and can fuel real-world harm.
Day 6’s action is to read UN Women’s explainer on the “manosphere” and understand how digital hate escalates into offline abuse. Awareness helps drive safer spaces.
Day 7: Download the HeForShe Journal
Even in digital spaces, gender stereotypes shape how people engage.
Day 7’s action is to download the HeForShe Journal, a four-week digital reflection guide that offers daily prompts to explore gender roles and equality.
Day 8: Run a Barbershop Session
Virtual violence is real violence, and what happens online carries real-world impact.
Day 8’s action is to host a Barbershop session using Module 9: Gender-Based Violence to explore how digital and offline harm are connected.
Day 9: Support Survivors
Many survivors of digital abuse face stigma and barriers to support.
Day 9’s action is to learn from HeForShe champion Vodafone.
Their Bright Sky app has over 1.2 million downloads, offering safe, anonymous support across 13 countries.
Day 10: Report Harmful Content
Reporting online harassment helps stop impunity and protect others.
Day 10’s action is to learn how to report abuse and misinformation on your platforms and share these tips with friends and communities.
Day 11: Identify and Report Deepfakes
AI can be misused to create deepfakes and non-consensual images.
Day 11’s action is to learn about AI-enabled abuse and how to detect or report it. Digital innovation should protect, not put people at risk.
Day 12: Add your name - Open Letter
Violence against women and girls, including online, often goes unchecked.
Day 12’s action is to add your voice to the HeForShe Call to Action urging tech companies and communities to create safer digital spaces.
Day 13: Amplify Movember’s Report
Both young men and young women are exposed to content online which can be damaging for their own health or the way that they perceive the other gender.
Day 13’s action is to explore research from HeForShe Champion @Movember, which highlights how young men navigate online spaces and the implications for healthier, safer communities for everyone.
Day 14: Build Partnerships 4 Safer Spaces
Preventing digital violence requires collective action.
Day 14’s action is to learn from HeForShe Champion MTN who expanded their Child Online Protection Programme, trained youth safety advocates, and partnered with the Internet Watch Foundation to block harmful content.
Day 15: Join #StandWithHer
Day 15’s action is to join the global #StandWithHer campaign.
Prevention begins in the classroom. Educators, access the free Creating a Gender-Just World curriculum for middle & high schools.
Day 16: Donate to HeForShe
Virtual violence is real violence, and it doesn’t end after 16 days. The last action is to support women’s rights organizations and movements driving change online and offline.
Let’s keep building equality every day. Follow HeForShe and UN Women.
